Warrant and license help?
This is all based for California law.
Well I got a ticket for drinking on the beach(taking the rap for a friend, long story) and I can't afford the ticket as i do not work, I am a college student. So I am not going to show up for court(my appearance date is tomorrow) because I can not afford the ticket. So my question is can I go to the DMV and get my drivers license as it isn't an "out-standing warrant." The original ticket was about 200 bucks. So would the DMV put a hold on my license or would they give it to me anyway and expect a cop to pick me up at a traffic stop or something. Thanks for the info.

Do not skip court just because you can not afford the ticket. Most courts can setup a payment plan or may allow you to pay the ticket by doing community service. If you skip court, not only will a warrant be issued, you will not be able to get your drivers license and the fines will go way up.
