Evolution wise: Which came first?

First Came The Hen Then The Egg.

The egg came first. There were eggs a long time before chickens.

Chickens evolved from dinosaurs and the first ever chicken with the genetics we know them to have today came from the egg of something almost exactly like a chicken.

Depends on what you mean. Lots of species had eggs before chickens were around.

But if the question is about chickens or chicken eggs then that's just up to definition of what you mean by a chicken egg. Is is an egg which will birth a chicken or is it one which was laid by a chicken because that will determine your answer.

Obviously the chicken will start out as a cell and will grow inside of an egg.
