Yes it's natural everyone does this. It happens also sometimes when listening to music or staring out a window when in the car or on a bus (daydreaming). It happens mostly at night though because that's when our minds run wild as we aren't doing anything to occupy ourselves therefore our mind creates little scenarios. This also shows a healthy mind as its a sort of coping mechanism for the mind - the scenarios created are sometime like problems solvers to certain events etc and helps the mind to move on from them particular situations this is also why we dream.

I do that all the time... Like what I could have done/said, fantasies, etc.
