What's wrong with my petrol, 2003 Corsa?
I will be driving and all of a sudden, the dials will go off - so fuel gauge, revs, water temperature and speed. The car sounds fine, the fan still registers when it needs to cool things down and she runs normally otherwise.
If I switch her off while the dials are off, then she won't start for 24 hours - the only lights to come up on second click are engine management and oil, rather than all of them as usual.
I have had her checked out by a roadside mechanic and in at my mechanics twice. They've tried diagnosing the problem but usually, she's working again by the time the mechanic looks at her.
I already know that it was an abusive ex that was doing something to her before as I had this problem a year ago but whatever wire he was fiddling with must have worked itself loose again.
This was happening regularly before (in short, every time he had access to the car) but then in the year we've been apart, I've had no problems until now.
Everything external to the dash works properly, even though I can't see it internally, as I've tested indicators and such.
Any ideas please?
Oh, just in case this helps:
If I turn her off when the dials are on, she starts as normal. When the dials have been off, they randomly come back on again and the handbrake light shows as they do but then goes off more or less instantly. (And no, I don't have the handbrake on at the time)
Thanks!

You either have a battery or earth lead loose in the engine bay, or the connector behind the instrument panel is loose. You should be able to reach up above the pedals & feel if it's secure.

IT is NOT your exes fault, you have a SHORT! The FIRST STPE is to POWER WASH your engien bayh GUNK ORANGE engine cleaner! this will remove and GRUNGE and DEBRIS from your WIRING HARNESSES and make good connections AGAIN! FOCUS on yoru STARTER and ALTERNATOR and their WINDGINS! Follow all LEADS from the POSITIVE battery cable to where they go! the THICK ONE goes directly to the STARTER! On SOME cars, the fuses are fed by the RED BATTERY CABLE after the attachment at the STAARTER! IT is NOT a fuse, IT IS A SHORT! Clean the BATTERY CABLES at BOTH ENDS< and double check the BALACK GROUND CABLE where it attaches to the engien block! POWER WASh yoru engien every 3-4 monthstto keep GURNGE leaking fludis and ROAD SALT ( if you have tht probeelm) off yoru WIRING HANRESSE and connectors! DO NOT BLAME your EX for this! Check over ENGEIN BAY wiht a TORCH and follow all the WIRES to where they go! use a PSRAY can of CHLORINATED BRAKE CLENAER to remove any OIL DRIPS or dirt fromall the wires! GOOD LUCK and KEEP 'er GOING!

This is a most likely a bad connection, including possibly a bad earth connection. Certainly not a fuse (that's easily checked and they are either good or they are blown) it may possible be a bad connection within the fuse box, so you could try re-seating the fuses. Check all the wiring connections you can find and cleaning and re-seating the connectors. Some electrical faults are difficult to trace.

Just a guess, these things are sometimes very hard to find. First off change all the fuses in the car. There easy to do and not very expensive. Next would be the ignition switch, not very expensive but a little labor cost.
