Some of the fast food workers are going on strike for a higher minimum wage. What do you think?

I think they should get a pay increase. Americans make jokes about people working at Micky D's like it is this terrible thing and yet fatasss Americans eat the **** every single day. The workers have to deal with fatasss arrogant Americans while getting paid practically nothing while the corporate scum makes millions. Do you think they should be paid more? I support the strike, what do you think about it?

Update:

I don't eat fast food by the way.

Update 2:

...umm I don't work in fast food. I am a union organizer.

If they want more money, do something to better themselves. No mature, intelligent person truly believes that those types of jobs deserve more than, at most $9.00 per hour. Even when I was out of work and would have gladly taken a temporary fast food job until I found something better (which I never did because I was told I was "grossly overqualified" when I applied) I understood that I would never make there what I was used to making. I am currently a staff accountant at a small but growing company and barely make $15 an hour, so there is no way flipping burgers is worth the same wage. I understand that fast food workers have to deal with crappy customers and not always ideal working conditions, but that does not justify the $15 they want. I have a bachelor's degree yet I do not feel like I deserve to make the same amount of money as someone who has a PhD, so why does someone who works a drive thru lane think they deserve the same as someone with a degree and fifteen years experience? I understand that in order to make more money I need to either find a different place to work or go back to school and get more credentials under my belt. Why can't everyone understand that?

I think for doing a job that you can lear all about in one hour they are getting paid what they are worth. These kind of jobs are meant for teenagers as a first step toward a better job with more pay later. No one expects them to support a family on minimum wage. If they are too dumb or too lazy to learn and better themselves, why should the rest of us have to support them.

    They deserve it.

For far too long now, these workers do the job some people think is degrading and on top of that they have to put up with the "Me" "Me" "Me" generation of Conservative parent's unattended children who make messes on purpose simply because they think someone is paid to clean up after them.

The law has long been that those who work in the service industries of America don't even get minimum wage, because the CEO's that operate these service industries claim they can live off of the tips they get, thus more profits in the CEO's greedy pockets.

    I say "Hogwash".

I'd imagine there's a plentiful supply of unskilled workers who would love to take their place. But what the hell, yes, let's give them whatever they want. The amount they're paid then will far outstrip the productivity they provide so they will soon find themselves on the outside looking in. Why do you want to punish people with little or no skills?

Economics always wins in the end. No arrogant politician can legislate reality away.

I would fire anyone that didn't show up for a scheduled shift . Plenty of other unskilled people to fill entry level jobs . That's why they pay minimum wage .

I think it should be raised to $9.00. But you have to think. Fast food jobs take practically no training or knowledge to do.

If they get it, were do you think the increase will come from? Higher food prices and less ppl will eat fast food.

I think every one of them should be fired. We have thousands of people who would greatly take a minimum wage job at the moment.

Yes, increase minimum wage! I remember making Republicans crap their pants with rage by telling them "God bless Bill Clinton for raising my minimum wage 10 cents!" It was fun!
