Best Beach for Senior week?

My friends and I are arguing on which beach to go for senior week. Some are saying Ocean city, including me. Others are saying myrtle, one is saying Virginia. I'm trying to figure out which one is best for having a good time, with good night life, and just stuff to do. Opinions Opinions

OC is pretty much taken over by teens during senior week. I can't speak about Myrtle or VA Beach, but I know a lot about OC. Myrtle and VA hotels may not rent to seniors. They also know all the tricks, so having an adult rent it, or even show up then bail is an old one and they will catch you, keep your deposit, and boot you out.

There are places that rent to seniors, but you have to be REALLY careful. Many, but not all, of the places willing to rent to teens have one goal only, and that is to kick you out and keep your money. The way they manage this is by having lots of rules, and if you break one, you are history. The one they get most kids on is extra people. If you sign up for 4, don't let "Chad" crash on the couch. There are a lot of broke kids who just show up expecting to crash on someone's couch. They will get you tossed. The second thing they'll nail you for is booze; the cleaning ladies will rat you out. The other thing they do is hire security. The security guys may try to shake you down; if they catch you booze, they are likely to tell you to give them $200 and they won't call the cops. They get your money and call the cops anyway.

If you rent a place, be careful with booze, and don't let Chad crash on the couch.

There's lots to do, and all sorts of trouble to get into. That said, the cops really don't want to arrest you. If they see a group gathering on the boardwalk, getting rowdy, they will find the musclehead with no shirt (there's always at least one), ask him for ID, and if he's drunk, tell him he can go back to his hotel or go to jail. The kid is either an *** about it and gets tossed in jail, or is smart, and just leaves. The cops really don't want to arrest anyone, but OC cops don't take any crap, not even a little. If you want booze, bring it with you, and be smart about it. Leaving 50 empties laying aroudn isn't smart. Neither is getting drunk and obnoxious.

1 in 10 kids will end up in jail, 1 in 10 will get hit by a car.

If you are going to do OC, google "ocean city MD senior" and you can find places that rent to seniors. Start planning now. Look up the hotel on trip advisor, and look at reviews for people who stay there in June; the reviews are organized by date. You will find reviews by seniors, and those who got screwed will talk about it. Sometimes it's there fault, sometimes it isn't.

There is a place on 46th street, I can't remember the name, but it's between the Makai (a condo) and the convention center. Its rather inexpensive and kids I kow who stayed there didn't have problems. Granted, it isn't in old OC, but old OC is where the crappy places are. You might want to try to identify it and look into staying there.

The reason I know about this stuff is I worked there a long time ago, and not much has changed. My eldest graduate last year and wanted to do it. I rented a nice condo, and took him and two friends. I didn't chaperone, I was more of a safety officer. They would take the bus down to old OC, hang with friends, get drunk, whatever, and call me and I picked them up. I made sure the didn't get too stupid, ate well, and were safe. They had a blast and had a much less sleazy time than their friends, but they enjoyed it. My other kid graduates in 2014. I have given him the option of doing the OC senior week again, or a family vacation (plus his BF) in Key West. He chose Key West.

    Myrtle Beach Senior Week

Ok I have really good perspective on this subject. I actually lived in OC for 9 summers including my senior week. Loved it but really nothing to do for those under 21. Myrtle Beach is by far a way better choice. for seniors. They have an entertainment package there specifically for senior week called The Myrtlemaniac Card. You can get info on their website @ www.myrtlemaniaccard.com. The package includes unbelievable events every night (foam parties, paint parties, concerts, etc), discounts on food, transportation, entertainment, and your on a schedule with thousands of seniors from all across the country. They have standard hotel rooms that rent to seniors in Myrtle Beach and houses that can hold 20+ in North Myrtle Beach. All of these rental agencies and hotels can be found on the Myrtlemaniac Card website. since the package is for seniors all the nightly events are 17+ to get in. I wish I would have known about Myrtle Beach when I graduated.

Myrtle Beach, SC is definitely the best choice for Senior Week. I've been working aquatic and beach activities here for a while. Senior Week has definitely exploded in the last few years with graduating seniors coming in from all over the Carolinas, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania and now finally Maryland too. Maryland seniors didn't used to come, but I talked to some and they came down in 2012 with a group of 4 guys when they were juniors. Their plan was to do Myrtle Beach their junior year, and go with all the other seniors from their high school in Carroll County to OC in 2013...well they actually got the those Senior Week club pass things, and just thought the whole atmosphere was so much more exciting and fun. So last year they came back with a group of 18 guys and girls in 3 condos at the Boardwalk Beach Resort. Some of their friends were skeptical at first, but once they got here they were so glad they did it and they all said they'll tell all their younger siblings and friends to go to Myrtle Beach for Senior Week. I also saw several dozen other MD seniors which I never saw before, and they literally had just heard about it within the last year.

Other reasons Myrtle Beach is the best for Senior Week is that the season is longer because the grads come from different states that graduate at different times, so it really goes from the last week of May all the way through the end of June, so you can pick which week works best. The first 3 weeks of June are the biggest and the whole strip in regular Myrtle Beach is taken over seniors, just everybody walking up and down Ocean Blvd during the day and on the beach and lots of airbrushed T's and neon trucker hats with class of 13, and I'm sure this year it will be class of 14 of course lol.

Myrtle Beach just seems so much more exciting but with Southern charm at the same time. There are palmetto trees, the beach is bigger and the water in the Atlantic is WAY WARMER than than OC because of the more southerly latitude. You can actually swim in the water and feel great instead.

The best hotels to stay at where there are thousands of other Seniors is anywhere between 16th Ave N and 26th Ave N on Ocean Blvd like the Atlantica, Sandcastle, Breakers, Boardwalk, and Sea Dip. It's all really close to the boardwalk, the Wonder Wheel, mini golf and you will just run into so many people who just graduated from all over the country.

Good luck with all your planning, but definitely go to Myrtle Beach. Plus it's only a 7-8 hour drive from MD. Trust me, the extra couple hours is definitely worth it for one of the most memorable weeks of your life. There's a facebook page www.facebook.com/mbseniorweek that has all the info on Senior Week 2014. A number of Maryland seniors have even commented on there so the word must be spreading in Maryalnd to head south to Myrtle Beach for Senior Week!

My Junior week I went to Senior which was cool I guess for a highschool kid. There was one thing however, there was only one club that allowed under 21 name H20. It is an completely under 21 club so it was all young people. It was mostly guys so it was kind of a sausage fest really.

In my actual Senior year I actually made the trip to Myrtle Beach. Wow what a difference that was. They had 5 different clubs that were actual clubs that also allowed under 21. The girls there completely out numbered the guy and they were really there to party. It was party time the whole time I was there.

Myrtle Beach beats Ocean City hands down. Way more to do way more girls. The best time ever.

Myrtle Beach is the way to go and I am speaking from experiance from both OC and Myrtle. Last year I hit both of them and when it comes down to it Myrtle is just better in almost every aspect but most specifically the nightlife. I first found out about Myrtle through the Facebook.com/MBseniorweek page and got a ton of info on the Myrtle Maniac Card which allows everyone 17+ to go out to differant night clubs, concerts, and parties throughout the week as well as gets people great discounts all throughout Myrtle but the big thing here is everything in OC is 21+ which is killer. Myrtle rents huge houses to people 18+ as well and the weather is soo much better. Last year I had the best week of my life in Myrtle I went to great parties saw MGK in concert and their is a world famous paint party! Also thousands of kids from all over the East where there making it a great time! In Myrtle Senior Week runs through all of June and the party never stops! I will defiantly be back this year!

Senior Week is primarily in Ocean city, however after reading a lot about other options its really going to depend what you are looking for as far as activities and entertainment. Ocean city is by far the largest senior week in America. I would personally think if you are looking for events stay during the oc car show or dew tour. These events are another reason why ocean city, md senior week has grown. I read also that their are a few other locations for senior week, and here is a link to view more about each senior week. http://www.myseniorweek.com/

Earplugs, definitely earplugs. I would sit them down on the first day and establish house rules. These might include such potential issues as curfew, alcohol/drugs, time to be out of common areas, limitations of boys in girls rooms and vice versa, who cooks, who buys groceries, who cleans up, and who assures that the house doesn't get trashed. Let them come up with their own concerns and work out solutions. Also if there are any cars involved you need to establish who can drive them, and when. I would also talk to each set of parents individually and assure that you have permission to send home, via top cost airline, anybody who doesn't seem to agree with "not into drinking and partying."
