Generally speaking, why do OHV engines have more torque than OHC designed engines?

Personally, I've always had my "allegiances" to the DOHC design as being the better and vastly superior engine, but one thing that I've noticed is that, generally speaking, OHV engines seem to have a higher torque rating than OHC engines. Why is this?

OHV & OHC designs have very little to do with Torque.

Torque is more affected by Bore-to- Stroke ratio and cam lobe profiles.

SOHC & DOHC engines are more capable to rev higher than an OHV engine. At high RPMs, the torque starts dropping off & the Horsepower keeps on increasing.
