What breeds do you think my dog was?

This is my dog when I was a child. We were told he was an Airedale and Fox Terrier mix. Knowing what I know now, I don't think they were right in the least bit. He was probably about 35 to 40lbs, and had wirey fur. I have my own guesses, but I'm curious to see what others think. Here are some pics of him.

Update:

He was found as a stray, so they had no clue as to either parent.

Update 2:

He was adopted from a shelter more than 30 years ago. Money has nothing to do with my question. I'm just curious as to what others think he could have been mixed with. Curiosity, that's all.

    Haha.no way.they probably knew one dog was terrier,probably the mother but had no clue who the father was.airdale and fox terriers are very much alike dogs.and the look nothing like this dog.

    Why would it matter anyway unless the dog cost more than 200 bucks with all shots.now if it didnt have its shots and checkup it should of been free.

    I would guess the terriers assuming that the mother was a mixed airdale fox.and I would guess the father was probably a mix between German Shepard ,retriever,possibly a little cocker.

    It most looks like a Jack Russell/Beagle/Belgian Malinois mix!

    My vote goes for beagle jack russel mix. But definitely beagle something if not jack russel.

    looks like he has some jack russel in him and maybe shepherd too. There could be a few breeds in him but he is suuuuper cute, a very unique looking dog! <3
