Why would it be in someone's best legal interest to get married in New York as opposed to Connecticut?
My friend's fiancee's family insists that they get married in New York as opposed to Connecticut, even though they will be doing so right over the border. I suspect there is legal grounds for this (she makes very good money compared to him) but I need someone to give me a crash course on the differences between the two. Thanks!

I can't understand why it would make a difference what state they were married in...what matters ultimately is what state the divorce is filed in, if it comes to that...I'm not aware any marital rights differ from state to state with regard to where a couple gets married....
