3D Lizard Drawing: How Can I Improve?

So this is my first attempt at 3D modeling. I'm using a combination of 3D and 2D painting to create a picture. Anyway, since it's my first try at this technique, I would love some feedback, how you think it could be improved, etc.

Thanks so much, here's the picture: http://i.imgur.com/DYgIh3R.jpg?1

Good first attempt, I would say that the shadow of the lizard is not working as well as it could. Where it is beneath the head the shadow is sharply defined, however because the head is raised that shadow should be more blurred at the edges (it will become more defined the closer the figure is to the ground).
