What should I read/see to learn about ancient culture?

I've been really interested in ancient history lately. I want to read the Mahabharata and greek mythology etc. I want to learn more about things like Angkor Wat, Chichen Itza, ancient Egypt, Mayan culture etc.

Not specifically only those things, but things like that. Any suggestions for some good reads? Books or online reading. Or videos too. Thanks.

Ancient history: their art, music, adornments, customs, beliefs, everyday implements that provided comfort.

Not just the lives of the aristocrats, the lives of the workers. =)

If it's any help to you a librarian once told be "if you are going to study a historical subject read at least 5 books on the same subject." It was a way of picking up on the other persons point of view.

The best person to ask "What should I read"? is your librarian.

    Enjoy your read!
