Most of us weren't born yet, though jesus makes it clear that all living creatures pre-existed. There are sayings in the bible that only make since if we pre-existed. However no one remembers their heavenly existence before birth. We are actual spiritual beings having a human experience. I've learned that from a Spiritually transformed experience I had.
