Mythology was typically used to explain things people didn't understand. That's why people typically say that something is a myth, because it was once thought to be true.

In scripture in the other hand, it is used to explain religion to it's believers and the people that worship that god, and the stories that led people to truly become a believer and to learn the facts behind the why they believe that religion.

From the standpoint of formal Mythology... Scripture is not considered mythology because there are a large number of people (including historians) who actively believe it to be a valid historical source. When something drops into disuse or ceases to be recognized as a valid historical source it falls into the realm of formal Mythology.

From the standpoint of information mythology, a more correct term would be opinion..

Scripture is nonsense that people believe, mythology is nonsense that people don't believe.

    .

At least with Scripture we have God's Holy Bible,

But with Mythology like evolution there is no proof.
