What computer program should I use for this file?

I wanted to make a list of movies with titles, years, genres, and my personal rating (1-5 stars or something). I want to be able to search by those individual categories.

I was thinking of just using a table in Microsoft Word and use ctrl+f for searching, but I figured someone might know something better.

Thanks.

If you're an average computer user, it's best to use the spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel. The tables are already there. You may fill the columns or rows with different colors for better viewing, adjust it's sizes and data manipulation is great. Some good features:

    - sort your entries alphatically

    - filter the entries that you want to see (e.g. movies in the year 2000 and 2002, movies that has 5 stars only, etc.)

    - advance searching

    - easily count the entries that you have

    - formulas for better manipulation

    - format the cells and boarders according to your preference

And so much more. There are also a lot of tutorials online on how to use MS Excel.

Excel would be way better to use, as you can create filters.

Use Excel Filtering to Find Data Fast

    e.g. http://www.microsoft.com/canada/smallbiz/products/...

Use this at work all the time to filter through hundreds of records quickly and easily
