What happens if something goes wrong?

Two things, seriously. What would happen if an astronaut's suit become torn in a spacewalk? I mean what if his / her glove was ripped off. What happens to the hand in space. Secondly, I watch them do spacewalks and fix things, what kind of safety devices do they have in case they become detached and begin to drift off into space? May sound elementary but I always wondered?

If one were to become detached from his tether, they have a small nitrogen gas powered "rocket pack" called Simplified Aid for EVA Rescue (SAFER) attached to their backpacks. They would use it to maneuver back to the ISS.
