I caught myself sleeping with my eyes open?

Hi. Last night I fell asleep at about 11, only to be very creeped out at 4 am to realize that my eyes had been wide open the whole time. I am certain that I was asleep, and I am certain that my eyes were open (I don't recall opening them). They were not dry or stingy when I woke at 6:30, however. Is there an explanation for this? Can I train myself to do it at will? Is there's chance that it happens again?

If you were sleeping, how could you possibly know your eyes were open ?

No one sleeps with eyes wide open. Some have a medical condition that leaves the eyes partly open during sleep, but they are still sleeping...they don't see anything.

No, you can't train yourself to do it , and it's very very doubtful it even happened this time. Wide open eyes would be very dry to begin with.
