find a good car to begin with. it needs a strong chassis in the best conditions possible. as you already know RWD is a must. next, find a performance tuning garage and tell them you want to build a drifting car. they will install lower springs and shocks, uprated brakes, parts for a more responsive and powerful engine as well as improved cooling systems. make sure for the love of god that you get a manual car. i can't belive im saying this but over the summer a friend of mine decided to build up a project vw golf gti to 300+ hp with a lower ride height, upgraded brakes and sticky tires but he got a manual and now regrets it.
the main problem with siqqqqqq drift cars is that you never really get to use their performance but you do get their problems all the time. if I were you, instead of modifying a a car for drifting, i'd get a car that can drift stock like a 350z or even better a 370z. these cars have more power and a wider, lower stance that will let you drift when you want to without having the problems of decreased engine reliability from a tuned engine.
