Of course not. He isn't particularly Greek - not a drop of Greek blood in him and had to flee the country as a baby. The last thing that Greece, having overthrown its monarchy in 1967, is going to put on coins is anyone royal. Three of its coins show Greek political heroes, and the others don't show people at all.

those people on the back of the 10 ,20,and 50 cent Greek euro coins are politicians (or something like that ) none of them look remotely like the Duke of Edinburgh

No, Philip is on no Greek coins, because his is not really Greek. The fact is that Prince Philip is originally a German prince, from a German dynasty. Only, this German dynasty took over Greece in the 19th century and Prince Philip is a remote offspring of this royal family. This may explain why the Greek parted so easily with their king & royal family in the 1970s. The proof? He speaks German fluently and his family was the House of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg. His mother's family name was Battenberg -- only later anglicised into "Mountbatten " (berg is mountain in German). Neither Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg nor Battenberg are Greek names. Nor are they Danish: Germany's northernmost state is called Schleswig-Holstein.

And why would there be - they got rid of the monarchy before the last war.

Much good it did them. Now they have the Euro and what a mess they are in.

Most of the coins depict things like ruins and ships (probably sinking)

    most apposite for their economy.

Prince Philip is a British citizen and has been since 1947. Why on earth would a foreign country put him on their coinage?

Maybe they sell them at the castle shop.
