can i replace a laptop hard drive?

i have a laptop and i need to know if you have to buy a special laptop hard drive or could i just get a normal hard drive

    Depends on the laptop. Usually it takes a 2.5 inch laptop hard drive. Newer laptops sometimes use SSD (flash) hard drives.

    You can use any type of USB hard drive and boot from that.

    Laptop hard drive are fairly easy to replace
