how can I trasfer old camcorder tapes to my computer without having the actual camcorder?

    You'll probably need *a* camcorder if you haven't got *the* camcorder. If the tapes are VHS-C it's possible to use a VCR and an adapter. It would help to know what sort of tapes they are - is there anything on the tapes that would identify them?

    That would be next to impossible.

    There are plenty of companies which will transfer cassettes onto a cd, research it online, and request more information.
