can't open folders in windows 7 without right clicking and going to open?

every time I try to open any folder on my computer by double clicking the following error message is displayed.

This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel.

However, I can always right click on the folder and click open and it opens every time, it's just kind of a hassle. How can I correct this?

Thanks

I'd go here http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/19449-default... and scroll down to the folder association file. Download the file and then right-click it and select Merge. Say yes to the warning. See if you can now double click a folder to open it.

This just sets the folder association to the Win7 default, perfectly safe.
