Use SSD migration tools either provided by the SSD manufacturer or a third party one.

However since it is messy,i always start from fresh.

If you have a Windows 8 installation CD then do the following:

    1) Ensure you have the correct cables (SATA and power cables).

    2) In order to reinstall windows I suggest you Google how to access the BIOS settings on your computer, and then also how to boot your computer from the CD drive (I say Google as it is different on some computers, but its usually either the delete key or one of the function keys to get the menu up). Once a menu comes up, look for boot devices and choose that. Then look for the difference boot drives/devices on your PC and choose the CD drive. Now whenever you turn the computer on, it will attempt to start using any disc that is in the CD drive (at this point, you should have put the Windows 8 installation disc into the CD drive). From there, just follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall windows on to your SSD.

    3) Once windows has been installed, you may want to restart your computer, go back into the boot drive/device settings and ensure that your computer is set to boot up using the SSD.

Alternatively, you can purchase some hard drive cloning equipment and literally copy everything as it is over from your old hard drive to your new SSD. Some SSDs that you purchase will have cloning kits that come with them, but not all of them.

Create a system image, safe to external hard drive, remove the ssd drive fit the hdd drive, pop a windows 8 instalation disc in , chose restore , from system image , saves a lot of hard work. I can give more detail if you need.

Install Windows 8 like normal, just install and chose the SSD rather than one of the other HDDs when installing windows.
