Why did Obama lie about setting a redline in Syria?

August last year he says he has a redline in Syria if they use chemical weapons.

Now he says he never said that?

Does he think people forget o easily or is he just used to the media giving him a free pass?

Update 2:

We go on to reaffirm that the President has set a clear red line as it relates to the United States that the use of chemical weapons or the transfer of chemical weapons to terrorist groups is a red line that is not acceptable to us, nor should it be to the international community. It's precisely because we take this red line so seriously that we believe there is an obligation to fully investigate any and all evidence of chemical weapons use within Syria.

Paragraph number 6.

And since it is a white house press release the libs cant discredit it.

Obama never set the red line. The red line was set in 1918, after WWI revealed the horror and ruthlessness of chemical weapons with chlorine based grenades. Obama said that if Syria were to cross the red line, he would act upon it, which he is doing so. What's the point in having laws if you don't punish those who break them?

To address your quote, what the White House Official was saying was that it was Obama's red line in the sense that he took the original 1918 red line, and simply redirected its purpose toward the middle east, because that (and north korea) is the only place where people are going to be crazy enough to use chemical weapons. Also, the point of that statement was to say that Obama isn't going to take bullsh!t from Syria. He was addressing the actual situation, as opposed to dwelling on minor, irrelevant details like you are.

If you are going to criticize Obama, use topics that are actually significant, like Obamacare, what's actually going on in Syria, etc., instead of bullsh!t like your question, because that just makes you seem desperate to find something legit.

You've been misled, honey. Fox is telling you that he says he didn't say that, but that's NOT what he said. What he said in essence was that he is not the one who created the red line or set a red line. That was done by the Chemical Weapons Act long before he was in office and signed by 188 countries.

Sometimes it's hard to understand people if/when you take them out of context or are trying to find something to criticize.

He didn't lie. He DID mention a Red Line. But He NEVER said that He was GOING to Cross it- if no better Alternative came Along ! And that's EXACTLY what's Happened... :)

He may not be lying. He doesn't even KNOW the truth. Besides, I would feel a lot safer with an incompetent president than one filled with deceit.

As a last resort, just deny saying it. Doesn't matter if it's on film or recording, just deny, deny, deny

I would like your sources. But most recently I heard Obama say that he did not set a red line, but the world set a red line.
