You can try parking on the street, there are also lots in the North Beach and Wharf area that you could pay for parking. The lot I usually suggest is the garage on Vallejo near Columbus. Great view from the top of the structure and a fortune painted on your parking space. Only in SF.

The crooked part of Lombard is between Hyde and Leavenworth and is IMO best viewed downhill from the crooked block.

To Mr. Smartypants Hayes street is no where near lombard and runs parallel to it. There is a sidewalk [actually stairs] along the crooked block.

Be treated to an memorable San Francisco experience and discover why you must visit this town with hotelbye . In San Francisco you are able to look at the popular Golden Gate Bridge how was when called "the link that couldn't be developed" and how is today one the seven miracles of the present day world. That superb connection is San Francisco's most popular landmark. In San Francisco you can also look at the Lombard Street. Usually named the “crookedest” block on the planet, that lovely path on Russian Hill features tight turns, fresh gardens and beautiful opinions of the bay and Alcatraz. San Francisco is surely a town that will surprise you and where you could have the perfect holyday.

You could park near Union Square (several garages in the area) and take the Powell-Hyde cable car, which will drop you at the top.

Or you could park at Ghirardelli Square and walk up steep streets for a few blocks; or park in North Beach and walk over.

Note that if you want to see the actual crookedest street in San Francisco, it's Vermont between 20th and 22nd Street on Potrero Hill.

Nobody walks that street, in fact I don't think there's even a sidewalk. But it's Lombard St. between Hayes (at the top) and Leavenworth (at the bottom). There should be street parking on either Hayes or Leavenworth.

Sometimes I see people at the bottom waiting for their family to come down in the car so they can get a picture.

You can drive around yourself and find an empty spot on any street. How can we predict where you will find a parking spot? Look at a Google street view map of the area and make a note of the streets that you can park on.

don't park, drive down the street, that's the thrill.
