I need to download a free word doc. file of IRS Form 1040 for 2012?
I need to download an IRS form 1040 for 2012 in a doc format that is either without a color background or one that can be removed.

Thanx, I've tried Nitro which does that but once I converted the file, I could't figure out how to change that green background color to white in MS Word. If you know how, please email me at annis1432 at yahoo dot com

Please people read my entire post before answering. I specified a Word Doc file. I want a Word Doc file because the PDF versions all have a green colored background. If it is a Doc file I can change the green to white.
Why would I want a doc file and not a PDF? because I want one, that's why. If you walk into a store and ask for a green shirt, does the salesman ask you why you want a green shirt?
I know where to find all the PDF files. I even know of the IRS site where the PDF files reside.

IRS.gov only has PDF forms that you can print out.

WHY do you need a word doc version? The pdf is "fill-n-print". Click on the field and type the information.
Since PDF is a universal file format (can be opened by any pdf reader regardless of OS), the IRS is not going to bother with a program (and platform) specific format like Word.

No, but the IRS has final control over the layout and format of the form. All app providers (tax prep software) have to submit, and receive approval for, the forms their app prints out.
That is the ONLY place you will find a tax form without the green background. And the app provider isn't going to give it away.

the forms at www.irs.gov are downloadable unless you have some problems with your computer system
since IRS is no longer providing the tax booklets and forms at libraries and post offices, all the forms are available at the web site
