Music creation software?

My friends and I are attempting to make a video game and to do so we need music. We've decided that creating our own is our best option and are now looking for the right software for the job (Which is why I've come to Y!A).

So I guess I should probably tell you what we're looking for...

Ideally we want something that can do instrumental as well as techno music. Specific instruments might include piano, drums, and various types of guitar (Thought possibly others would also be useful). Even better if you can mix the instrumental w/ the techno but you don't have to. That could give us some really cool effects.

Also, I would most likely be the one doing the music and I don't know much about computers or creating music with computers (My other team mates are handling the coding end, while I do a lot of the conceptual work. None of us really know much about making music). So it would be endlessly helpful if this music creation program was at least moderately easy to use.

Lastly, cost is always a factor. However, I don't want to leave anything off the table. If we can find the right software, we may just have to eat the price. But obviously cheaper is better.

So to sum up what we're looking for:

> Able to create both instrumental and techno

> At least partially user friendly

> Cheaper the better (Though always quality over price)

If anyone has any ideas of what we can use (Literally, anything that even vaguely fits this description would be worth looking into for us), I would really appreciate help with this.

Check out www.audiotool.com, click on 'launch app', and pick an entry point (you will need to be on a computer or device that can run flash - but there is also an app available on the apple store).

The flash version is totally free, and is like having a workstation/desktop with a mixer, and the ability to hook up various old and new-school rhythm boxes, synths, fx, and the ability to bring in samples (there is a huge list of samples, and if you sign up for free, you can upload your own). Once you've got your instruments/samples set up, you can use the sequencer portion to build songs.

I've been playing with it for months now, and I am still in awe of it.

I use FL Studio Producer Edition. It's not too hard to learn but has advanced features. You can use VST plugins (instruments and effects) and samples to get any sound you want, it's great for electronic music. You can try the free demo at flstudio.com or buy it with 10% discount with the promo link for new users https://support.image-line.com/jshop/shop.php?offe...
