That depends on who you ask. Of my straight friends, and myself, I don't think any of us do. At the airports I've worked at, I've run across a number of line guys and line guys and line girls that absolutely refused to assist with an aircraft if they even remotely suspected the flight crew or passengers of being gay or lesbian.

Slowly, the number of people that would care if you're gay is dropping in most 1st world countries.

And, if you want a laugh; a friend was positively overjoyed when I came out to her because it meant that her crush on me was over and she had someone she could ask every embarrassing sexual question she could think of. Her husband was fine with it, although I'm still working on him over whether it's a matter of choice or not.

The world? Why would the world care if anyone's gay? Most things in Nature are just overly sexual, they don't care about each others' preference. Your problem are the people who live and ruin the world. And those do care, for some f-ucking reason. People care about everything except what's really important, you know: the depletion of natural resources, country-wide starvation, the false ideals of democracy of the Western world, and all the other evils that come attached to the latter and that people normally assume to be part of life (which they are not).

The good news is, people won't care if you're gay or not forever. There was a time when they would care if you were black but, more or less, that's done with (of course it depends on where you live and what you do for a living). There was also a time when they would care if you were a Protestant or a Jew, but that's also more or less done with. There was also a time when women couldn't vote or work outside the house or divorce their husbands or have a baby on their on or dress very short skirts. That's also more or less done with.

Every age has its pariahs. There will be a time when gay people will stop being the hot topic on some drunk politician's agenda, but others will follow to shake things up. Let's just hope that when that time comes, the LGBT community knows which side to take.

Source(s): I'm a really open-minded person. I accept everything so long as it brings absolutely no harm to anyone or anything at all (how is difficult can it be, anyway?)

Depends what you mean by "care." I, as a straight person won't try to tell you that my opinion on this means crap to you or others in the community. But if you mean, is the world really as homophobic as a lot of people think it is, speaking just on behalf of the US, I don't believe it is. I think a lot of gay people are still afraid to be who they are and they attribute that to being worried about the discrimination they will face if their co-workers, or their landlord or their friends and acquaintances know they're gay. I have known quite a few gay people, and I have yet to find one that hasn't been open about their lives since they were in their teen years and subsequently had to face any discrimination at work or socially because of it. That doesn't mean that hate and discrimination don't happen. Despite what non African Americans think, there is still racism in this country, but in all my forty years I can count on one hand the number of times I have ever been called the N-word or was otherwise discriminated against because of my race. And there have been openly gay people since way back who were known to be gay and were not blacklisted because of their sexuality. There was discrimination, but even in the conservative times of the fifties and sixties in this country, openly gay people were talked about in whispers and innuendo, but otherwise, their lives went on. It is ultimately the individual's choice how open they want to be about their personal life. But no, I don't think there is any real need to fear being an openly gay individual in this country. Laws exist to protect against job or housing discrimination based on sexual orientation as well as race, etc. Are you going to win some battles and lose the overall wars? Yes. It's all a Catch-22. Know what's worth fighting for and give it your all. That's just as commendable an action as winning the fight in the end.

Despite what this system of things and the 'ways of the world' teach us, people do actually care about one another. Not only that, the actions of myself or yourself do affect others. So I think YES, people really do care if you're gay.

If something hurts or does well for society I think it is all of our concern and that human beings are naturally concerned about the where-abouts of others.

The real question is, Does your creator really care that you're homosexual. Once you find the answer to that, then it really won't matter what others think.

After all, he's the one that made humanity and sexual organs. So he's the one to consult on how to use 'human life'.

    Peace to you

Depends where in the world you live. In some places, your life can depend upon it.

The best way to reduce homophobia is for as many people as possible to come out. People who know LGBT folks in their own lives tend to be more accepting and less prejudiced. So yes, the world does care, in the macro sense. But if it isn't safe for you to come out, don't.

No, that would be like asking if the whole world cares if you were asian, caucasian or bipolar. Some of the people in your immediate circle might be uncomfortable with it but it's on them to accept it if they want to be part of your life... not on you to change into what they want for their own lives.

The "world" no, certain people in the world yes, there are some people who would chain you to their bumper and drag you until you die and then go and get drunk and brag about it.

There are others who would die to protect you from those people.

and then there are most people the ones in the middle who don't give a rats @$$ about you and what you do or anything about you
