Hua Hin - worth a month?

Hi Lads,

Asked on here last year about Chiang Mai and got some great info.

Its that time again and I'm thinking of Hua Hin to start my winter in LOS.

Any expats / regular visitors like to sell the town to me?

I read the adult entertainment area is small and compact with no agogos.

Nice selection? Beer & girls - are they Bangkok or Pattaya prices?

Beach looks nice.

Hotels prices arent too bad, what sort of money would I pay for a monthly rent on a basic one bed apartment (secure)?

I'm a normal bloke, early 40s, like partying, girls etc Enjoy walking, seeing places of interest, sports. I know my way around the main tourist spots in Thailand so comparisons appreciated.

Cheers

I would try Cha'am - has bars and stuff to do but not as crowded and tight as HH - and I bet you can find a less expensive place there too... you will find blokes in the plaza whereas HH will have blokes but more Skandis... and both will have a smaller CM style lady scene, nothing liek Bkk or Pattaya,

Hua Hin is a chilled out place and arguably, a more popular holiday destination for Thai people, compared to Pattaya, which is more popular with foreign visitors. Pattaya has far more ladies, the night life is more varied and there is more entertainment to choose from, Hua Hin is more relaxed and chilled out.

Hua Hin does have night life, but is limited - many places will close at around 2am. Price wise, Hua Hin is a little more expensive than Pattaya and Bangkok. It does sound like Hua Hin may tick all the boxes for you, but I think you could equally be happy in Pattaya, since you mention beer and girls, which Pattaya is renowned for.

Personally, if I was going to Thailand as a single guy and wanted fun and entertainment I'd choose Pattaya, but if I was going with a gf or wanted a more chilled out time, then I'd go to Hua Hin.

For an average 1 br apartment in Hua Hin, for a month, expect to pay around 10-15,000 Baht - otherwise, with some looking around, you could find a more basic place for around 5,000 Baht per month without the trimmings and comfort. Hotels should also offer you a better daily rate if you are able to commit to a prolonged stay. Pattaya will be cheaper for accommodation.

    Enjoy.

Spend a week but not a month - very nice beaches and near by Cha-Am. Hua Hin is a family destination and very popular with Thai's ( The King is currently staying there ) but it's not known for being a party place.

You know Bangkok and Pattaya but have you tried Chaweng Beach , Koh Samui , Ao Nang,Krabi or White Sand Beach, Koh Chang - plenty to see and do and you should be able to travel to all within a month but I believe if you like to party you will be spending more time in Pattaya than anywhere else

You would be very disappointed with Hua Hin for a month. It's a town for old foreign residences to drink beer, have diarrhea and watch TV. I doubt you are into that. You got to move south young man, Try going to to Chumphon and caught a boat to Koh Tao for a few days then to Koh Phangan for a few and then to Koh Samui. On the way back to Bangkok you can stop in Hua Hin and look around and say, sure glad I took Rat's advice.

If you like the beach and can stay drunk half the time, you will love the place. You named all the things to do except watch TV in your room, have diarrhea, and read a long novel.
