terminal potential of the battery.?

1. A battery has an Emf, ξ = 24.0 V, and an internal resistance, r = 1.50 Ω. The battery is connected to a load resistance, R = 18.0 Ω. Determine the current delivered by the battery and the terminal potential of the battery.

Can someone explain? I don't necessarily need the answer, just an explaination.

    Effectively, the circuit resistance is (18 + 1.5) = 19.5 ohms.

    a) Current in circuit I = (E/R), = 24/19.5, = 1.23077A.

    This current also flows through the battery, so V drop across battery's internal resistance E = (IR) = 1.23077 x 1.5, = 1.846V.

    b) Battery terminal voltage under load = (24 - 1.846) = 22.154V.
