What was going on and what should I do now ?

I was very close to her family and always looking out for them.

She flirted with me often but I just took it as light banter. Her father grew ill and passed away which She took pretty badly. The pain she felt I guess opened up my true feelings for her. I must of been in serious denial because I never knew until it hit me like a ton of bricks, she was in my thoughts constantly.Six months later I kept trying to hide it but Im not a good liar so I wrote telling her I cared about her and we were all worried for her being locked in her room. I visited the following week and she heard me arrive and came down and smiled at me. Eventually I wrote her and told her how I was feeling as I didnt know which way to turn. She seemed fine with me but we never discussed it but out of the blue she phoned we three weeks later sounding very upset and told me she had no feelings for me and not to comeback, that hurt because her mum was like a mother to me. Her sister told me she was crying a lot screaming down and cussing my name yet I do not understand what I had done. I stayed away and a year later I saw her whilst driving and tried to talk to her but she just didnt give me a chance to talk. I would always send her a birthday card so I let it pass but the following year I sent her a card and a letter saying I hope we could be friends again but if not I understand but heard nothing then 3 weeks later out of the blue the police knock my door and say she has been in absolute tears down the station and saying that I harassed her (our contact was twice in 3 years). I told her family and they went bolistic but not sure what they said to her but I decided to leave it. I still think of her often. ... I have idea what was going on with her and I am still totally confused. What do you think was going on and what should I do?
