how do i retrieve a file from a hard drive after quick format?

I plugged it into a modem that allows you to connect hard drives for wireless storage but it was empty when i plugged it back into the computer.

Can i get a video file from it?

    use a data recovery tool to handle this problem as soon as possible.

    the tool I'd love to recommend to you is Hodo data recovery software.

    and remember that do not add any files into your hard drive before recovery is done.

    Nope once you removed the device that became impossible without a forensics program
