Can you help me with my story?

Hi,

I'm writing a story, but there's this one character that I need help with. He's had his throat damaged (someone tried to silence him by slashing it, but he survived). Now he's healthy again, but he talks funny because of the damage. My question is how would he sound? Would he be really raspy, or wheezy or what?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Dani. I'm pleased someone is asking for a little help here, and not to have someone write the bloody work for them. AH, there's hope.

Depends on whether the damage was to the trachea, to the vocal cords, to the nerves supplying the cords, and so on. I've heard neck damage people sound whispery, like they have a case of laryngitis. One lovely musician singer has a reedy quality, but still is quite listenable.

    Great success to you!

I believe he would be raspy, the same as if you've got a bad cough and find it a bit hard to talk sometimes

Raspy and you'd have to listen closely to understand him because he wouldn't be talking that loud.
