What do you need to get a ID?

The only identification I actually have is my social insurance number and my medicare and they no longer will take it. Also my birth certificate was ruined by a flood in our basement after moving. Is there any other things they will take? like bank statements or tax papers?

You don't say what state you are in, but in most states you will need to go to the drivers' license office and ask about getting a state-issued ID card, and ask them what documents you will need.

To get a copy of the birth certificate record in the state where you were born will be more difficult. Again, ask at the drivers' license office. They might be able to direct you to local organizations that will help you obtain this information for little to no cost.

They know people lose their identification documents in fires, floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, landslides, and other disasters.
