My teenage daughter is losing a lot of hair?
My daughter's 16 y/o she recently started having extremely dry hair which tangles up real bad when she showers and loads of it fall off just by touching it.she now has to brush her hair gently with her fingers as she loses more hair when she uses a brush or a comb.
She loses a looooooot of hair when she showers ,mush less when it's dry but still there's hair all over the bathroom flower.
She eats healthy, has a healthy weight, takes multivitamins and omega 3 daily.
the only meds she's on is Singulair and Claritine.
Can someone please help and tell me what may be wrong and how do we prevent this major hair loss and dryness.
Thank you.

It could possibly be stress, or as another answerer suggested, anemia. I would definitely recommend taking her to the doctor just to possibly rule out anemia.
As for caring for dry hair, try using coconut oil. You can buy it at any health foods store, and a lot of Bulk stores carry it too. You rub it between your hands to heat it up, then massage it through the hair, focusing on the ends. You then wrap up your hair in a towel or saran wrap, and leave it for 2 or more hours (You can't really leave it in for too long). Then you shower it out, and after a few times of doing this your hair gets really soft from the moisturizing effect the coconut oil has.

To be on the safe side, it is best to take her to the doctor to rule out any disease or illness. If she loses a lot of hair in the shower, it sounds like the water is the culprit. Is the water in your home hard water? If so, hard water causes dry hair, breakage, and tangles. The minerals found in hard water builds up on the hair and never gets washed away using a regular shampoo nor clarifying shampoo. You need to use a chelating shampoo or hard water shampoo to remove that buildup. Also, you should get a shower filter to reduce the minerals in the water.

It could be alopecia? my friend from college has it and my uncle, in his case it's severe: completely bald, and he shaves the rest off because it's patchy. My friend however is rather lucky, her hair has no noticeable sign of any loss but she loses a lot when she does like everyone else. She makes sure she's extra careful while brushing, also she avoids tight hat's, helmets, etc.
You can get hair strengthening products as well as specific vitamins to help, I'd advice you to see with a doctor as they can make sure it's not something else that beeds medical treatment.
Good luck :)

I'm 15 and this happened to me last year. I went to the doctors about it and got diagnosed with anaemia. I took iron medicine for a few months and my hair started my grow back. My hair is back to normal now.
