Is there any benefit to the "upgrade" ?

The back story: I don't frequent HD forums on the web. Once again, I find a problem with my '06 Dyna. A quick Google of "06 Dyna stator" returned huge amounts of hits at all the HD forums. Seems the rotors are poorly designed and come apart with disastrous results. The repair kit from HD is in it's second generation (the -06B in the part # tells). It consists of an '07 rotor and stator.

$285.99 and a 7-10 day lead time (as usual, it must be ordered - stuff I need is never in stock).

Since my rotor wasn't badly damaged, I've put it together better than it was originally built. New screws and fully TIG welded. A stator is on order from J&P ($60.99 plus shipping - and 4 days wait).

The question to satisfy my curiosity: Is there any additional benefit to the '07 parts?

Higher output, perhaps?

Update:

This is what they did wrong: http://www.google.com.br/imgres?safe=active&hl=en&...

A two-piece unit.....the screws back out and eat the stator, sometimes get the rotor magnets too.

The new rotor is a welded assembly - and for some reason must be used with the new mating stator.

They do not interchange...or so I believe.
