why will my old video not record any more was ok before we went digital?

    You say it's old, so if it's a VHS recorder it probably has an analogue TV tuner.

    If that is what you are trying to record from, it will not work because there are no longer any analogue signals being transmitted in the UK.

    To record TV programmes you will need to connect a Freeview digital box to it, with a suitable aerial plugged into it of course.

    Even if you took good care of it, at some point in time, humidity, dust, normal wear and tear, and something called programmed obsolescence will take over.
