Can anybody tell me the title of the book of short stories about the A5 road.?

I remember it being something that we read in school in about 1980, I think it is the authors recollection of growing up and the things that went on in the 1950s and 60s.

Please somebody have the knowledge to put me out of my misery.

    There are a couple of books about a road -

    Jack Kerouac wrote "On the Road"

    Then there is the Marc Isaac's film about the A5, called "The Road:A story of Life and Death"; I've found a review by Jerry Whyte on the internet - "Cineoutside"

    I was a teen in the 1950's so someone else's account of "things which went on" sounds fascinating!
