Tuxedo to a non-black tie event?

My senior class is having a senior luncheon on Friday and students should wear a shirt and tie, jacket optional. Me and my buddy are looking to "overdress" to be funny of course and wear tuxedos. Like the saying "everything is more fun in tuxes"- that's what we're going for. Is there anything wrong with this? Will I be breaking a major fashion law? What are your thoughts?

If it weren't bad, how would it be funny?

You're going for "snotty," right? Well you are on the right track. Daytime calls for morning clothes, not a tuxedo -- and I'm guessing you don't know the difference between a tuxedo and an evening jacket anyway.

Sure, why not? I know someone who wore a tuxedo to Tough Mudder.
