Why am I so prone to vaginal infections?

For years I have been getting recurring yeast/bacterial infections. I have tried feminine washes, different panties, going without panties, and more... I get 1 almost every month.

I shower regularly. I know how to wipe myself. I keep myself clean...

It is starting to drive me nuts.

Lately I have also been getting a lot of uti and bladder infections..

I make sure my SO is clean. But if our foreplay involves any type of hand contact, I will have an infection the next day..

But that's not the only reason I get them.

I just started seeing a new doctor. I thought I had a UTI (pain during urination, the urgency to go a lot) But I didn't! So he told me to just drink a lot of water..

Are some people just more prone to these infections?

What could it be?

Should I push the subject with my doctor?

Anyone who's had one of these infections before, know that they are awful.

I have a hard time concentrating on my life. The constant itch, and discharge.

I have 2 toddlers who require almost all of my attention.

Any advice would help.. Home remedies.. Your experiences..

Thank you in advance.

Update:

@Irene: No I am not on antibiotics that often. I have done quite a bit of blood work in the last year, I am almost positive they checked for diabetes. Yes, he always washes his hands and I always go to the restroom after sex. I keep myself as clean as possible.

are you regularly on antibiotics? that could be one cause, have you ever been tested for diabetes? that could be another cause. if your foreplay involves hands has he washed them first? Have you tried eating yogurt daily and taking a probiotic supplement? yes some people are prone to infections and need to be more careful. as for the UTIs do you pee right away after sex to flush bacteria from the urethra?

usually if you get a lot of UTIs the doctor will suggest looking at your bladder with a small camera that goes through the urethra to look for any problems.

I would give up on the feminine washes since they may be the cause. they throw off the vaginal ph. it is best to just wash the outside with plain warm water

Then I would try using just plain water to wash and taking a probiotic supplement and eating a yogurt daily for the good bacteria that keeps yeast from overgrowing and see if that helps you

not to be nosy but do you use a store bought lube for intercourse? if so check the ingredients for glycerine. women who are prone to yeast infections should avoid this substance, it is sugary and feeds yeast and encourages yeast to over grow,

I'm prone to them to. Someone told me that tampons are the leading cause. I have the problem of getting rashes from pads. Lose lose situation.

Another cause is from your diet. No junk food and what not. More water, no pop.

Pools, hot tubs can give infection too.

I was proscribed antibiotic for the infection and it only slowed the infection. It didn't get rid of it.

The best way to stop it, is to try different things. First stop using tampons and see if that helps. If it doesn't try something else.

It takes time, and doctors can only do so much.

I have a shower head that disconnects and I cleaned my hole. It helps if done daily.

    Good luck.
