When an independent film become successfull?

Say, the film cost 50 000 $ to make

(made by an indenpendent film company), and get sold to TV and DVDS. So let's us say the total gross for DVD is 10 mill $.

There are only few actors, and a small crew. Can we expect that they get most of the money? Or is there all kinds of crap they need to pay before seeing some of the green?

Can you give me a small idea of how things work?

    That would depend on what kind of an agreement they had with the independent film company before they made the film.
