I would go over what a well-rounded basic diet includes (just as a safe starter). To that, you should try to add more calcium and vitamin C. I would give her alfalfa hay (or pellets). This will cover the extra calcium as well as give her more protein. I would also give her a safe vitamin C supplement (Oxbow makes a great tablet you can use). Some examples of additional veggies that cover those two things would be bell peppers, parsley, cilantro, and spinach. You should continue this diet until the pups are weaned (at around 3-4 weeks). The pups can continue on this diet until they are about 6 months old (at which point you need to start limiting their calcium). As her pregnancy progresses, try to handle her less and less. Picking her up may harm the pups inside her. If you need to lift her out of the cage, try to guide her into a box and lift that up instead.

Pregnancies last around two months (give or take a few days). You might see a hiccupping motion, which would tell you she’s going into labor. Other than that I would try your best to estimate her due date based on when she last saw a male.

I recommend joining a guinea pig forum and asking for regular advice on dealing with her pregnancy. There are lots of experiences people in the forums below who would be happy to guide you through the pregnancy/birth so you have the best chance of things going smoothly.

Guinea Lynx is a great place to get all kinds of advice, particularly if it’s medical.

Guinea Pig Cages is another good guinea pig forum. It even has a section for pregnancy.

    Hope the pregnancy goes well.
