Trying to sell a bike without a title?

Actually I have the title. It's assigned to me, but I never paid the taxes, so the bike was never titled in my name. I have a bill of sale from the original owner. I want to sell the bike, but I'm afraid if I give the buyer the title either he or I will get into trouble when he goes down to the tax office to pay his sales tax. I know about bonded titles, but I'm wondering if there's not something else I'm not considering.

Either part it out or get your title or sell it at pennies on the dollar. I doubt if you will be in the least bit of trouble for getting the title transferred late, you will just have to pay the costs you would have had to pay anyway.

The sale is not legal unless the title is in your name, period. So either title it, or part it out. You may be able to sign a certificate of non-operation at the DMV that should get you out of those back taxes. It certifies that the bike/vehicle has not been operated on the public roads.
