  • Is there a writer's forum for people older than 13?

Sorry, I'm just looking for something a little more mature. I just don't know if your story of demi-gods, angels, werewolves, or superheroes is any good or not. I guess I'm just too old. I thought I could write young adult fiction, but judging from all the questions I see here, I think I'm way off. Any forums in the 25-50 year olds?

    Regards,

    Mr. Old

  • What size handlebar risers for Roadstar?

I have a 1999 Roadstar and the handlebar configuration causes upper back and shoulder fatigue after an hour. I think some handlebar risers might might help with my riding posture, but I'm not sure what size would be the mst beneficial. Has anyone had ny success with a certain riser and pullback combination?

Also, any other mods you've done to your Roadstar that you highly recommend?

  • What supplements do you add to your smoothies?

I'm already adding flax seed, chia seed, and bee pollen to my shakes, but I'd like to add other health giving supplements. I know I'm getting most of the vitamins I need with my diet, but I believe there are other excellent natural supplements or herbs I can add to enhance my health. I'm 53-years old, and male, if that makes any difference.

    thanks,

  • Is this a good deal? 1986 Harley FLTC Tour Glide with a sidecar. $6000.?

I know it's a 28 year old bike, but it's still a Harley and it comes with a factory sidecar. I've been wanting to transition into a bike with a sidecar for safety reasons as I get older, and this seems like a good deal. It has 83,000 miles. Is 1984 fall in the period of time that Harley was being fun by AMF?

  • Roadstar owners: Do you have an opinion of the Kuryakyn Pro Series Hypercharge?

I have a '99 Roadstar 1600, and I found this used air-cleaner for sale. ($150). I like the look of it, but I'd really like to know if the increased performance characteristics are worth it? I would also like to know if I need to re-jet my carburetor if I install this thing?

Also, if you don't like this one, what aftermarket air-cleaner do you recommend?

  • Trying to sell a bike without a title?

Actually I have the title. It's assigned to me, but I never paid the taxes, so the bike was never titled in my name. I have a bill of sale from the original owner. I want to sell the bike, but I'm afraid if I give the buyer the title either he or I will get into trouble when he goes down to the tax office to pay his sales tax. I know about bonded titles, but I'm wondering if there's not something else I'm not considering.

  • Why do so many young writers write in the present tense?

I've noticed when I go to answer questions in Yahoo Answers that so many young writers write in the present tense, as if the action is happening while I'm reading it. I've read many YA books and many, many adult books and I've never seen anyone write in the present tense. Where is this coming from? Are there some other very popular books out there written this way that I have somehow overlooked?

  • What's the difference between a Ural and a Dneper Ural BMW?

Is a Dneper with the BMW copy engine better than a standard Ural bike? I'm looking to get a sidecar bike and these bikes seem to be some of the most reasonable to buy. Thanks for sharing any knowledge you have about this bike or anything about sidecars.

  • Trade smoothie recipes?

Here's my favorite recipe, but I'm looking for something new. Please don't write, "just throw in a bunch of fruit and some yogurt, and there you have it."

    Chocolate Monkey

    2 bananas

    1 cup Almond milk

    3 Tablespoons protein mix

    1 Tablespoon Hershey's Cocoa

    2 Tablespoons Agave

    2 Tablespoons favorite nut butter

    1/8 - 1/4 cup of pecans (optional)

    1 cup of ice

    Makes enough for 2

  • A quick history lesson in early air-traffic control?

I think back in the late 30's, air-traffic control at airports consisted of guys on the ground with flags. How would that work for, let's say, asking for and receiving permission to take off? I'm writing a novel based back in 1939, and would appreciate anything you might have.

  • Were there seat-belts in passenger planes back in 1939?

Researching for a novel, and wondering if there were seatbelts in commercial passenger planes back in the late 30's? More specifically in a Ford Tri-motor.

  • If there is ice on the coils of my window unit, is it toast?

When I open the front cover of my window unit the entire coil is iced over. Does that mean it's garbage now? I unplugged it, thawed it out, and restarted, but it froze up again.

  • what is so unhealthy about whey-based protein powders?

I'm older but still trying to gain some muscle mass. Whey protein seems to be the most economical of the muscle-gaining powders, but I'm trying to ween off of dairy as much as possible. I'm not competing or anything, but I would like to gain about 15-pounds of muscle mass. Any good suggestions?

  • Vegetarians, without soy protein, how do you get your protein?

I'm converting to vegetarianism, but I still need a lot of protein because I'm trying to gain muscle mass. Please don't tell me I don't need protein, because it's the single most important ingredient in all the body-building books.

  • What are some fun family-type things to do between Dallas and San Antonio?

We like to stop and smell the roses when we go on road trips.

PS. We've already done the Texas Ranger Museum and the Dr. pepper Museum

  • what supplements if any should I take when I become a vegetarian?

I'm a 53-year old male, active in strength training, and still wanting to build muscle. What do you think I should take, if anything, to supplement a diet not popular with body-building. Also, what is your opinion of carnosine?

  • How do you reconcile the Paleo Diet vs the Forks over Knives Diet?

I've seen documentaries on both of these diets, and evidence for the health benefits for each seems to be overwhelming. Obviously the diets are almost mutually exclusive, so how do you, personally, reconcile the two?
