A single-payer health-care, a federal living wage law (indexed to inflation, of course), the elimination of all oil subsidies, a roll-back of Bush’s tax cuts on high earners, strict limits on campaign financing, new regulations of greenhouse gas emissions and an immediate withdrawal from Iraq? All in exchange for not shutting down the government and bringing economic collapse?

No, of course not. Didn't happen. They passed a clean spending bill. Both times.

in 2007 and 2008 Nancy Pelosi had to increase the Bush debt ceiling 3 times. and you are right, it did not come with extortion attached.

I don't remember the Dems basically threatening to destroy the country in order to force their will on everyone. Dems don't hate America and all Americans except for the extremely rich.
