what side effects did you have with trigeminal neuralgia surgery?

I had surgery 3 weeks ago for trigeminal neuralgia. after surgery almost all my pain had gone away but I am not hearing very well through my ear. It sounds like water is on my ear and I can not get it out. Also at times I feel a lot of pressure in it. The doctor said it could take a couple of days to a couple of weeks for me to hear again. My mouth and tongue feel numb and tingly. Another symptom the doctor said that could take days to weeks to heal. I know this surgery for me is not 100% success. I am wondering is there anyone out there that had the same or similar symptoms after surgery and if these problems went away for them? I am feeling really horrible and I just want to see the light at the end of this tunnel.

What kind of pain medication is he taking? If he's taking narcotics they usually don't work very well for nerve pain. The best treatment for the pain of neuralgia is a medication like Neurontin.
