As far as Civil war? I think it is more likely of a Revolution or Revolt will happen.

Every point in History (8 thousands years of known written history) whenever the Middle Class, also known as the Merchant class, vanishes and only the Rich and Poor remain in a culture it has ALWAYS led to Revolt, Revolution, or Civil War.

That is happening in the US right now, and the Conservatives are driving the bus and aiming for the cliff.

A socialist President is about as low as things can go. Things can only get better. America will find a way out of its debt problems, Devaluation of the dollar, grinding socialist austerity or more likely war to change the rules of the game.
