Can you get your hunting license in new york after the season starts?

Hunting and fishing licences and tags are state issued, the federal government shut down won't effect what you can buy except for the availability of the federal migratory duck stamp, once a retailers supply is exhausted he won't be able to get more until the shut down is over. As for the starting of a season that to will not adversely effect you either except for special hunt draws where limited tags may be available. Hunting seasons are year round for different game as well so the purchase is good for the entire year.

States issue hunting licenses. Only the Federal government is shut down. That should not affect you getting a license. The Federal government is even still doing background checks.

I picked up my small/large game NY license yesterday.

The government shut down is at the federal level, it does not affect state issues like hunting licenses.

Just go to Walmart or D**k's Sporting Goods. Takes only a few minutes.

License- yes.

Deer tags?- I do not know if a deer tag is an "extra license" required for deer hunting only- or if its purpose is to limit the number of deer taken? If it is a limit- then when all tags are gone- you can not get one til next season.
