So, the shut down is working out so well that now Boehner is planning to put the nation in default?
This is unbelievable. Does the guy have no concern left for the well-being of the country? Even if it makes sense politically (and I don't see how, except that it will appeal to the Tea Party faction), this would be an economic disaster for the country, and an economic downturn for the entire world!
Wall, planning may or may not have been too strong a word, but there is no question that he is threatening to do so.

Section four of the fourteenth amendment prevents default.
Instead the fed sells off international holdings and likely that would result in a new global recession.

I think it is unbelievable that Obama will not negotiate. He is the one who is going to put the country into default. Clinton was a moderate who was willing to negotiate with Republicans. President Obama is a liberal who has a "his way or the highway" attitude. I have never seen such a stubborn President. Obama Care is a disaster for the country. It is so unfair that big business gets a 1 year extension, but the American people do not. I found out I am going to have to pay an extra $100 every month just to get similar insurance to what I have, so I can get coverage for things I need. Obama Care mandates people get coverage for things not everyone needs. Now I am going to have to have coverage for things I do not want or need. Men and elderly women even have to have maternity coverage. Apparently Obama is concerned that a man or 80 year old women may give birth and therefore needs maternity coverage. Everyone has to have coverage for mental health. Maternity and Mental Health coverage are expensive. Under my current policy my prescriptions are free. I have allergies and get a couple sinus infections a year. I like the fact that I do not have to pay for those prescriptions. Under Obama Care I will have to pay more for those prescriptions. Obama said that if we liked our coverage we could keep it. While I like my coverage, and I am not going to be able to keep it.

And WHY hasn't Obama, in his Q3 Phase ( 85 BILLION dollars printed every month,
with 40% for interest ONLY ) stooped this hemorrhage of money 3 years ago ? Or
even LAST year ! This country IS about to bankrupt and it's nothing as simple as
blaming one Republican because he's following a MANDATE from the voters to STOP
Obama and the Democrats from their spending spree. Where DO you Liberals
generate the nerve to accuse Boehner when you have Reid who has LITERALLY
denied putting ONE of the 33 Jobs Bills the House sent him over the last year. That's
CRIMINAL, but Libs can't handle truths when it's in their own "dirty house".

Your really not well read on this issue are you.
Only the parroting words of left outs and Obama
cry doom and gloom. There is no way in hell the
US will or can default on their interest payment.

Boehner isn't the one doing it!..hint, he's just the leader of the Legislative branch..there's another FAR more powerful person who has to compromise!

Obama supporters make every possible excuse for his failure. Every other president was held responsible, but obama is like this puppet who can do nothing on his own. If obama wanted to end this, all he has to do is meet Boehner and the others half way, but he can't seem to move himself from his inept position.

It's been part of a GOP plan since Obama got re-elected...

WASHINGTON — Shortly after President Obama started his second term, a loose-knit coalition of conservative activists led by former Attorney General Edwin Meese III gathered in the capital to plot strategy. Their push to repeal Mr. Obama’s health care law was going nowhere, and they desperately needed a new plan. Out of that session, held one morning in a location the members insist on keeping secret, came a little-noticed “blueprint to defunding Obamacare,” signed by Mr. Meese and leaders of more than three dozen conservative groups.
It articulated a take-no-prisoners legislative strategy that had long percolated in conservative circles: that Republicans could derail the health care overhaul if conservative lawmakers were willing to push fellow Republicans — including their cautious leaders — into cutting off financing for the entire federal government.
“We felt very strongly at the start of this year that the House needed to use the power of the purse,” said one coalition member, Michael A. Needham, who runs Heritage Action for America, the political arm of the Heritage Foundation. “At least at Heritage Action, we felt very strongly from the start that this was a fight that we were going to pick.”
Last week the country witnessed the fallout from that strategy: a standoff that has shuttered much of the federal bureaucracy and unsettled the nation.
