Can you answer a few questions if you are Buddhist?

1. If someone doesn't believe in certain things or doesn't go to temple and pray, but still follow the teaching of Buddha. Would he still consider a Buddhist?

2. Buddha taught us to love each other, but why is people from Lao, Cambodian and Burmese are looked down upon in Thailand? Even my dad is racist towards Indians. Consider the percentage of Buddhist in Thailand is about 95%.

I've been a Buddhist most of my life and I'm beginning to question it. I like the teaching of Buddha, but the way I see people makes me really think about it. I might sounds naive I know.

Sorry for my English, I'm Thai.

If you are in Thailand you must be Proud because, Thailand is a one of country in the world with pure Theravadi Buddhist. Even India also very few Buddhist, and not know the correct Buddhism.

    1. If you still follow the teaching of Buddha mean you are a Buddhist. If you are a real understand Buddhist you don’t have any doubt about teaching or never worry about pray or go to temple or any certain things.

    2. First you learn correct Buddhist, In Thailand as we know there are very good Buddhist monks who understand and teaching the correct Buddhism. Buddha taught us if you love yourself you can loving-kindness to others. If you love yourself you will not think about others behavior and you will want to find the truth of yourself.

    3. This world like a river which flowing to sea. Everyone in this world like a running water to down. Buddhist like a man who try to swimming to up of running water. That mean you are out of world way if you are a real Buddhist.

So think and practice correct Buddhist way without doubt.

I think so. You can be a follower or student of the Buddha.

If you don't know what go against the teaching of the Buddha, you wouldn't be a real follower - i.e. on the side of the Buddha. Although you don't believe such and such of Buddha's teaching, but you believe such and such that are not aligned with the law of nature (as Dhamma - the teaching of the Buddha), you are rather on the other side as an outsider.

First make sure you understand what is what and why it was taught by the Buddha. Investigate and properly argue.

    ....

    About people.

People are people. Well, just insiders and outsiders.

    have a nice day.

    1. Yes, there are different forms of Buddhism. Pick one that inspires you to practice.

    2. Although the Brahma Viharas (loving-kindness, compassion, empathetic joy, equanimity) are taught as a meditation practice in Theravada, it's in the Mahayana where they are made the foundation for living. If Buddhism is a ladder, most people have to start at the first rung not the last. Imagine how they might be if they didn't practice at all.

    1. Oh yes, Buddhist meditation requires you to meditate even in your room alone and you will be a perfect Buddhist.

    2. Lay people tend to behave in that manner most of the time. But love transcends above all and love is only accompanied by divine understanding when realized.
