Has Somalia ever been a stable country? I understand its strategic location and it could have become a trading?

It seems this country is in constant flux, I understand that its a contentious area even during the Roman Empire times. Any thoughts? Is it really as bad as the media paints it to be?

Somaliland is a stable country. Possibly the only working democracy in Africa. Unfortunately, the rest of the world will not recognise it, and want to shoehorn it into a country made up of what were places like Italian Somaliland, Puntland, etc. to be outnumbered and ruled by the savage warlords who killed thousands of those in Somaliland during its fight for independence.
